Missionvale Care Center is in the process of installing an additional large water tank that will catch rain water run-off. The goal of this project is to provide a sustainable water supply that can be used to water the crops produced in the Community Gardens.
The Community Gardens are one of the very important sustainable programs of the Nutrition Unit. The Gardens are used to teach people the skills they need to grow their own food and a portion of every harvest helps feed the people of Missionvale.
Serious droughts in South Africa the last several years have elevated the urgency and priority of this sustainable water project.
Funding for this project has been a group effort between Missionvale Ireland, Missionvale Australia, the Coronado Rotary, and Missionvale USA. To fulfill our commitment, we need to raise an additional $5,000 for the final phase including plumbing costs and safety fencing. The tank is currently in production and will be installed soon.
